Leslie D. Smeach

Leslie D. Smeach is a certified public accountant, certified valuation analyst and partner with Schlabig & Associates, Ltd. He has been with the firm since 1990. His responsibilities include providing tax planning and consulting, management consulting, and accounting and auditing-related services to the area’s businesses and non-profit organizations.

Les also is Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV), a certification issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The ABV designation is held by fewer than 1,500 professionals nationally. He became a CPA in 1980 and a certified valuation analyst in 1998.

Les earned the exclusive financial forensics accreditation, Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), in early 2009, enabling him to provide an even higher level of financial forensics expertise for the firm and its clients. The certification, issued by the AICPA, allows him to provide specialized services as it relates to bankruptcy and insolvency, computer forensics, economic damages, family law, fraud investigations, litigation support and stakeholder disputes and valuations.

His memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The Ohio Society of CPAs and The Ohio Council Institute of Management Accountants. He is a member of the Portage Private Industry Council and the Ravenna Rotary Club.

He co-authored an article titled “Hypothetical Fair Market Valuation is a Concept of Prime Range” for The Valuation Examiner, a magazine for the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
